TAHS March Program - Sunday, May 19 @ 2PM

The McGuire Room at the Traverse Area District Library

Our final Historical Society program for the spring season is "Unfair Treaties & Broken Promises." This presentation will describe the history of the Indians’ struggle to retain their homelands in the face of white settlement. The talk will be based on the forthcoming book, “Raw Deal: The Indians of the Great Lakes and the Theft of Native Lands,” which will be published on January 1.

If joining via Zoom, please register HERE.

Presenter:

Robert Downes is a prolific writer on Native American culture. His forthcoming book, Raw Deal: The Indians of the Great Lakes and the Theft of Native Lands will be his eighth book. It will follow other works including  his novels of the Ojibwe, “The Wolf and The Willow” and “Windigo Moon,” which are grounded in deeply-researched history and anthropology.
